Meet me in St. Loui...Loui...

We had a reall great time in St. Louis, visiting with our family. It's always nice to see everyone, and catch up on the missed hugs, kisses, and conversations. We weren't there very long(Thu-Mon), but by the time Sun. rolled around, I know I was more than ready to make my way back to San Diego...home sweet home. We pretty much just spent the weekend hanging out and relaxing. The weather was great, the day we got in was a little warm and muggy, but a storm came through on Friday evening, with tornado warnings for the surrounding areas, and all. We got some thunder and lightning, but it as shortlived, and cooler weather followed for the rest of the weekend. I even had a scare... I drove my sister and sister-in-law over to my Grandma Drury's house to spend the night, and on the way back to my Grandma Edward's house, a huge branch off a tree almost took my rental car out...I was a little shaken, but glad to get back!
We got to go to my childhood frozen custard place, Fritz's freeze, which was super yummy, and we of course hit up Steak and Shake,White Castle(or as I like to call it, diarreah in a box) and Cracker Barrel for a breakfast. We went to my childhood home(which my Dad built, he also built the neighboring homes), and the people who lived there even let me and my sister Kathryn in to take a peek. Let's say it was MUCH smaller than we remembered, but all in all, the same. We took a walk around the block, and over to the school I attended for Kindergarten and 1st grade. Rory played on the playground, and I walked around the school, and it was soooo weird, but a vent that had air coming out gave me a whiff of the inside of the school, and I'll tell ya, it smells EXACTLY the same as it did 20+ years ago!! Blast from the past...isn't it funny that you remember smells? Both of my Gransparents homes have very distinct smells, too, and I'll never forget them. It was weird driving around Florissant(the suburb we lived in), it almost felt like home, but not quite. It's no San Diego. ;)
My sister-in-laws couldn't get over how green it is there, and it is beautiful, but weird to see nothing in the distance because it's so flat. I'm used to looking off at the rolling foothills and mountains that surround us here, even though it's brown.
And it's fun living somewhere that you can brag about, or have poeple say"why the heck are you here if you can be in San Diego?" It gave me a new appreciation for where we live.
Anyways, as much fun as we had, it was wonderful to get home, we missed Micah so much(Rory whined about how he missed Daddy almost 20 times a day, that got old really quick!). Micah got to live it up while we were gone, and got a nice Friday and Saturday of playing disc golf, so hopefully he enjoyed it. Here's some pictures from our trip.

We had a family barbecue on Saturday, all of my aunts/uncles came except my Mom's oldest sister(we got to see her Sunday).
I like my grandpa in the back, he looks so stern!

I love to spy...

On people through their blogs....it's such a fun way to see what people that you know and care about(or maybe don' t know, or only care about a little) ;) are up to! I get the feeling that more people than I realize look at my blog, and I promise, if your reading this, I look at yours to(if I know your blog address). So this is an invitation from me...if you do not see your blog in my Rad people section, please send me your blog address, and I'll add you, because you know you want to be a part of the Rad person club. And if you don't want to be a part of the club, well, then, you don't belong anyways...
Oh, and check out this new blog, it's super fun to look at, and makes me absoloutely green with envy that their are people who are so talented and crafty out their...I know that I have my own talents that other people appreciate, but I am absoloutely not a "crafty" person. I'm sure I could pretend, but neither have the energy or the patience that would be required. So I will just enjoy nice gifts from all of you crafty people out their(hint, hint). This lady, Julie, is a friend of my parents from church. Let me know what you think, and leave her a comment, too!

Mother's Day

Rory and the cow.

Rory and I are down their on the sea walk, sorta in the middle... (it's like a search and find).

We had a wonderful day today! Micah and I came down with a bug of some kind on Friday, and we were both miserable Friday afternoon into Saturday, but today we're both recuperated, and just so glad neither of the kids caught it. Micah's parents were so sweet and came and picked up Rory on Friday night, and he spent the night and most of Saturday with them, which gave us a lot more time to rest, and Rory some quality time with his Mema and Grandpa Kim. He has been whining since he got home yesterday that he wants to go back, so we'll have to make this a more regular thing(is that okay Mom and Dad?) ;)

Anyways, because we didn't want to risk spreading any remaining germs, we decided to skip church today, so I got to sleep in this morning, and awoke to handmade cards from Rory, Sydney, and Micah. Micah even included a sweet letter(which he asked me to burn, but of course will not!!!). After the kids took their afternoon naps, we decided to get out of the house for a little bit, so we headed down to La Jolla to the children's pool to see the sea lions, and take a little walk. We kept seeing painted cows all over La Jolla.(We found out it's to raise money for Children's Hospital, you can actually buy one! Local artist painted each one, we saw at least 25 just down a couple of streets around downtown La Jolla.) Anyways, all Rory was concerned about was getting out of the car to see one while we drove by, so we stopped by one and he wanted to ride it, but unfortunately their was a sign that said no climbing...booo). So we sufficed with a picture next to it.

All in all, it was the best Mother's Day I've ever have two beautiful, smart, funny, and healthy kids, and a wonderful Husband that makes it possible for me to stay at home with them everyday. Thanks for that gift, honey!!

Hiya.

Our Joy School group minus one. This one was cute(except Rory choking Ashlyn)..Caden didn't want to be in the shot... Love Caden's face in the background!!
Rory and Danny pushing Caden around, at their friend's birthday party.
Syd hanging out at the party.
Rory's friend Sydney had a birthday party last week, they had a cute cooking theme. The kids played games, made pizzas, rolled dough, and most importantly, played and ate cake! Playing "musical kitchen utensil."

We hit the park last week with Lynnette and my friend Letecia. Rory is good friends with her son Gene. Here they are wearing themselves out.

Sydney relaxing. Isn't that the life?
My niece Kaydence.
Lynnette and the girls.
Grandpa stopped by last week for a visit, Sydney was happy to see him. We went to Joy School to pick up Rory and Grandpa surprised him. He was excited to see Grandpa there to pick him up!!
It's Friday...finally! Fridays are my favorite day of the week, the day before the much anticipated weekend. I love having Micah home. It makes the days so nice when we are all together. And especially love the Saturdays when it's my turn to sleep in. Which would be tomorrow. So double yay!
Anyways, today is also May 1st. We(me and the kids) leave for St. Louis in 2 weeks for a short visit, Rory can't wait to get on the airplane. The last time he flew was when he was 1, so he can't remember. I'm nervous flying with both kids, but thankfully will have my Mom and all three sisters with me, so it should be even easier than if Micah were with us(maybe).
We had a bout of beautiful warm weather at the very beginning of last week, but nothing since...it's been cool(but not too cold), and it may rain tomorrow...I'm getting anxious for some consistently warm weather, so we can plan some outings.
Sydney is now the proud owner of 4 teeth, with two more on the way. It's been a long crabby road, which isn't even close to over, but hey, 4 down, 16 to go!!

Have a great week everyone!
